Congenital Cataracts in Children :: Blindness Vision Sight Essays

Innate Cataracts in Children Waterfalls are the essential driver of visual impairment around the world. Waterfalls are the blurring of the focal point. The focal point is straightforward and is significant for the concentrating of a sharp picture on the retina. There are a few distinct sorts of waterfalls. Inherent waterfalls are available during childbirth, and will be the focal point of this paper. An eye sickness causes optional waterfalls. Awful waterfalls are brought about by a physical issue. At last, decrepit waterfalls are brought about by mature age and are the most widely recognized type of waterfalls. Waterfalls can be one-sided, which means in a single eye or respective, in the two eyes. Intrinsic waterfalls might be incomplete influencing some portion of the focal point, or complete influencing the entire focal point. On the off chance that they are incomplete and not thick enough to meddle with light transmission, innate waterfalls are very normal and frequently outwardly irrelevant (Vaughan, 1989). Thick focal inborn waterfalls require medical procedure. They cause a huge misfortune outwardly and must be identified early. A parent for the most part can not distinguish these waterfalls. The specialist for the most part recognizes the waterfalls in the infant nursery following birth. One-sided puerile waterfalls that are focal, thick, and bigger than 2mm in breadth will cause changeless harm if not rewarded inside the initial 2 months of life (Vaughan, 1989). Then again, symmetric respective waterfalls request less dire treatment (Vaughan, 1989). The fundamental treatment is medical procedure, trailed by focal point substitution/rectification, and normally finished with impediment treatment. The medical procedure is called phacoemulsification. In this methodology, ultrasound vibrations of up to 40,000 cycles for each second are made by an empty cylinder like instrument. It is embedded and the vibrations separate the focal point into little pieces. The pieces are then sucked out through the cylinder (Golstein, 1999). The focal point substitution/adjustment might be done one of two different ways. An intraocular focal point is a plastic focal point embedded where the genuine focal point used to be. Aphakic contact focal point remedy is utilizing contact focal point to improve the pictures to the retina. I found that an intraocular focal point may be a superior decision contrasted with glasses or contact focal point in light of the fact that the last two will in general develop the picture. The cerebrum can not join the two pict ures on the off chance that one of them is amplified and the other is of typical size (Goldstein, 1999). At long last, I found that most medicines end with impediment treatment. This treatment resembles utilizing a fix to cover the terrible eye(s). Generally, 6 to 8 hours out of each day were endorsed.

Marriage Matters Summary Linda J, Waite

As an introduction, Waite advances through different measurements cultivating the present example of diminished relationships. She states obviously that, â€Å"The decrease in marriage is straightforwardly associated with the ascent in dwelling together living with somebody in a sexual relationship without being hitched. † Statistics demonstrated a huge abatement in relationships between both highly contrasting relationships. This is by all accounts a plague in the present society giving models which may reflect individuals or circumstances In our lives.Another one, of the many, stunning insights show that about â€Å"one third† of births happen without any father present. Server's concern is that relationships are measurably progressively valuable to the youngsters who are considered and brought into the world with a steady arrangement of guardians. The primary contention represents a position that wellbeing between a family is of more noteworthy quality when the famil y Is finished. That being stated, Waite never entirely characterized what a total family Is, however the term Is suggestively a determined of a mother, father, and might comprise of children. From the paper, a family Is anything Inside marriage. Server's first contention for wellbeing is that marriage seems to decrease unsafe and undesirable practices. Marriage will likewise builds material prosperity, for example, pay, resources, or riches. The last segment, which I believe is the most useful, is good help. These standards are mind boggling measures required for a sound life-all of which stem and are elevated through marriage. The second contention for a star marriage way of life is that life Is simpler monetarily through a stable Income.Incomes can either be shared or upgraded with marriage. Waite contends that solitary parent family units are in Jeopardy because of absence of adequate assets and vitality where double parent homes are either enhanced by twofold salary or spared by creation at home. Spouses will in general lead the stay at home Job of performing the responsibilities with house work while men go to work. This leaves more opportunity to focus on family just as determination In their profession while the spouse raises the children and accomplishes house work; leaving substantially more an ideal opportunity to unwind and recoup. The third contention upheld by Waiter's article bolsters a more prominent closeness between a couple in marriage. At the point when individuals think about the word closeness, it is connected (for the most part) to sex. Waite contends that not exclusively are sexual requirements surpassed, however genuinely the bond is wound more tight. â€Å"The long haul contract verifiable in marriage-which isn't understood in living together encourages passionate interest in the relationship, which should influence both recurrence of and needs are met. The last contention is the effect of marriage on the children.Statistics show that t wo fold the number of youngsters that are brought up in one-parent families than kids from two-parent families drop out of secondary school. A surprising certainty yet is maintained to be valid. Practically all instances of neediness were recorded by instances of youngsters experiencing childhood in single parent homes. It summates that kids are eminently influenced by the good examples which are assigned in their lives. The last page of the article convinces the peruser to â€Å"reverse the trend† and the entirety of the setbacks contributed by overdeveloped monogamous relationships.Multiple sources are authorize with the establishment of an elastic norm. The beliefs in the public eye vacillate in light of open arrangement and acknowledgment. Approaches and guidelines must be implemented all through society to redress change. In summate, Waite contends that a positive way of life is that of which is within marriage. She settle that â€Å"marriage produces people who drink l ess, smoke less, misuse substances less, live more, acquire more, are wealthier, and have youngsters who improve need to give more idea and exertion to supporting this important social organization. †

Discuss the Role Non Verbal Communication Plays in the...

The ability to communicate with one another is of paramount importance to the success of the human race (Hartley, 1999). Communication is a dynamic process with the interacting components of sending and receiving information. Nonverbal cues may provide clarity or contradiction for a message being sent (Dunn, 1998). This is not to say that nonverbal forms of communication merely provide a modem of clarity for verbal communication, they can, and do, stand alone (Krauss et al, 1995). Facial expressions, body movements, gaze and posture can all be used to provide further emphasis to language communication or can be employed silently and still convey important messages (Danziger, 1976). This paper will discuss the role nonverbal†¦show more content†¦Palmer and Simmons (1995) argue that to conduct successful interpersonal relationships the ability to give and interpret nonverbal cues is of paramount importance because social constraints often hinder explicit verbal messages . If this statement is taken as fact, then what happens if an individual lacks such ability? This question can be tackled by looking at studies on individuals who have adequate verbal abilities but lack the ability to communicate nonverbally as the majority of society deems normal. Hobson (1997) argued that every human is born with a biologically based capacity for the perception of, and empathic responsiveness to, the bodily expressed feelings and attitudes of others. An exception to this rule can be found when looking at mental disorders. Bormann-Kischkel et al (1995) studied autistic infants and found that they appear to lack the basic components of emotional reactivity, which appear in normally developing infants within the first few months of life. Sorce et al (1985) noted that such a lack could interfere with the childs ability to learn via observing the caregivers nonverbal cues for danger and passivity. The parents of autistic children frequently report a lack of nonverbal communication basics very early on in development. Skills such as eye contact and facial expressiveness appear to be omitted (Farran and Kasari, 1990). Elasticity of Demand While Setting Prices-Samples for Students

Questions: 1.As a producer, why is it important to consider the price elasticity of demand of your product when setting the price you are going to charge? 2.Explain the difference between Comparative advantage an absolute advantage. Answers: 1.Price Elasticity of Demand Introduction Price elacticity of demand is defined as the the degree of responsiveness of a change in demand to a change in one of its determinants while other determinants remain unchanged. It is measured (Chauhan, 2009) Price Elasticity of Demand. Source: (Chauhan, 2009). Prepared by Author The Consideration of Elasticity of Demand while Setting Prices. Prices elasticity of demand is one the single most important factors to be taken into consideration while setting prices. If the price elasticity of a product is high, then even a slight increase in the prices will result in a large decrease in demand. Generally, goods will close substitutes (e.g: Coca Cola and Pepsi) and moderately luxury goods are highly price elastic. In such cases, producers may have to wary of increasing prices. In such situations, the increase in supply costs may have to be absorbed by producers to a great extent instead of passing it on to the consumers.(Baumol Blinder, 1991) On the other hand, if the price of a product is highly inelastic, then an increase or decrease in the prices does not affect the demand to a great extent. In general, the demand for everyday necessities is highly inelastic. For example, the price of sugar is highly inelastic in shortrun. Hence, even a high increase the prices will bring not result in a significant decrease in demand. In such cases, the increased costs may be transferred to consumers.(Baumol Blinder, 1991 2.Comparison of Absolute Advantage and Comparative Advantage The terms absolute advantage and comparative advantage are used in context of international trade within the of process of decision making regarding which products or services must be produced in order to maximize output. However, the ideas can be generalized for individuals and firms too. Absolute Advantage Absolute advantage is the advantage a country or a firm may have in producing a good or service that it can produce at the lowest input costs and by using the minimum amounts of resources as compared to its competitors. (Mankiw, 2001) Comparative Advantage Comparative advantage refers to the ability of a country to produce goods at a lower opportunity cost.(Tucker, 2010) .Comparative advantages generally arise from specialization of skills or can be gained if a factors of production is present in abundance.Comparative advantages are generally ascribed to supply side differences between countries in their technologies (as in the Ricardian Model) or in their factors endowments (as in the Hecksher Ohlin Theory).(Maneschi, 1998) According to Ricardo, gains from trade are based only on comparative advantage. Hence, countries or firms should produce goods and services that they have a comparative advantage in. (Mankiw, 2001) Hence, while making decisions regarding which product or service to specialize in, a country or firm must evaluate its comparative advantage. (Tucker, 2010) Example Source (Mankiw, 2001). Adapted by Author. John and Gary both have skills in painting as well as in doing wall papers. The following are their outputs in each task per day. Output per Week Painting Wall Paper John 20 5 Gary 10 4 John has absolute advantage in painting as well as doing wall papers. However, to paint every room, John, gives up the production of wall paper in (5/20 = 0.25) 0.25 rooms. This is Johns opportunity cost for painting. Similarly, Gary has an opportunity cost for painting of (10/4= 0.4) 0.4 wallpapers. Thus, John has comparative advantage for painting. Childhood memories Essay Example For Students

Childhood memories Essay Finally, 5:00 out of work! I start towards my car and I think about finally getting home. I cant wait to get in the cool air conditioning and away from all my annoying co-workers. I open my car door, jump in, turn on my music full blast, and start driving away. I decided take a different way then usual because it was rush hour. My favorite song comes on the radio and I begin to sing. All of a sudden I stop, a car keeps whizzing in and out of all the cars in front of me. Out loud to myself, I say, What an idiot. Then the car streams across two lanes of oncoming traffic, hits the curb, and flips. Wow!!! I didnt even think to stop. Shaking, I just kept driving. Then my Childhood memories Essay just flashed through my mind. I was thinking about how I use to perceive things in my head a while ago. I thought about how pain and suffering use to scare me to death. I continued to drive, and I let go of the steering wheel with one hand for a second. I started to feel my neck. I felt two scares and I remembered when I was a baby with a chin the size of a football. My mom and doctors called it a tumor, but I didnt understand then. The third stanza paints a picture of a small childs careful admiration for his father as he recalls, The hand that held my wrist Was battered on one knuckle (479). And yet at the end of the stanza, we are shown just how defenseless the child is as his father drags him around the room, scraping his sons ear with his belt buckle. Roethke makes the most important statement in the last line of his poem, waltzed me off to bed Still clinging to your shirt (479). Clinging, and all that the word implies: fear, sadness, love and admiration, is both the greatest strength and obstacle the boy will encounter in his relationship with his father. In contrast to My Papas Waltz, D. H. Lawrences Piano is a mans remembrance of a happy childhood. Lawrence sets a dream-like tone in the first stanza of his poem as we are taken back through the years to a mans boyhood. Taken back by a song, the man is transported back to the Sundays of his childhood where he would sit beneath the piano as his mother played hymns. While melancholy, Lawrence shows us that his persona yearns for the happy childhood he once had with the line, The glamour Of childish days is upon me, my manhood is cast Down in the flood of remembrance, I weep like a child for the past (574). The author establishes a connection with readers through his use of music as a means of passage through time with the statement, In spite of myself, the insidious mastery of song Betrays me back, (574). Through this use of music and the personas bittersweet memories of a past childhood, Lawrences Piano relates itself to the reader. My Papas Waltz and Piano are recollections of a grown mans youth. The vast differences in each mans upbringing points out the great differences in the human experience. My Papas Waltz is not only the tale of a childs required romp around the house, but can also be seen as a representation of the young boys entire relationship with his addicted father. Piano on the other hand, is the contemplation of a happy childhood past too quickly. Bibliography: Works Cited Roethke, Theodore. My Papas Waltz. Literature and the Writing Process. The Cold War Essay Example For Students

The Cold War Essay Introduction When World War II in Europe finally came to an end on May 7, 1945, anew war was just beginning. The Cold War: denoting the open yet restrictedrivalry that developed between the United States and the Soviet Union andtheir respective allies, a war fought on political, economic, andpropaganda fronts, with limited recourse to weapons, largely because offear of a nuclear holocaust.1 This term, The Cold War, was first used bypresidential advisor Bernard Baruch during a congressional debate in 1947. Intelligence operations dominating this war have been conducted by theSoviet State Security Service (KGB) and the Central Intelligence Agency(CIA), representing the two power blocs, East and West respectively, thatarose from the aftermath of World War II. Both have conducted a variety ofoperations from large scale military intervention and subversion to covertspying and surveillance missions. They have known success and failure. TheBay of Pigs debacle was soon followed by Kennedys ft handling of the Cubanmissile crisis. The decisions he made were helped immeasurably byintelligence gathered from reconnaissance photos of the high altitude planeU-2. In understanding these agencies today I will show you how theseagencies came about, discuss past and present operations, and talk aboutsome of their tools of the trade. We will write a custom essay on The Cold War specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Origin of the CIA and KGB The CIA was a direct result of American intelligence operations duringWorld War II. President Franklin D. Roosevelt recognized the need tocoordinate intelligence to protect the interests of the United States. In1941, he appointed William J. Donovan to the head of the Office ofStrategic Services (OSS) with headquarters in London. Four departments madeup the OSS: Support, Secretariat, Planning, and Overseas Missions. Each ofthese departments directed an array of sections known as operationgroups. This organization had fallen into the disfavor of many involved inthe federal administration at this time. This included the director of theFederal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), J. Edgar Hoover, who did not likecompetition from a rival intelligence organization. With the death ofRoosevelt in April of 1945, the OSS was disbanded under Truman anddepartments were either relocated or completely dissolved. Sovietintelligence began with the formation of the Cheka, secret p olice, underFeliks Dzerzhinsky at the time of the revolution. By 1946, this agency hadevolved into the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), and the Ministry ofState Security (MGB) both ruled by Lavrenti Beria. This man was undoubtedlythe most powerful man in the Soviet Union with a vast empire of prisoncamps, and informants to crush any traces of dissent. Of considerableimportance to Beria was the race for the atomic bomb. The Soviet Union andthe United States both plundered the German V-2 rocket sites for materialsand personnel. In 1946 the MVD was responsible for the rounding up of 6000scientists from the Soviet zone of Germany and taking them and theirdependents to the Soviet Union.2 The political conflicts of the 1930s andWorld War II left many educated people with the impression that onlycommunism could combat economic depression and fascism. It was easy forSoviet agents to recruit men who would later rise to positions of powerwith access to sensitive information. Atom spies wer e well positioned tokeep the Soviets informed of every American development on the bomb. Ofconsiderable importance was a man by the name of Klaus Fuchs, a Germancommunist who fled Hitlers purge and whose ability as a nuclear physicistearned him a place on the Manhattan Project. Fuchs passed information tothe Soviets beginning in 1941, and was not arrested until 1950. Alsopassing secrets to the Soviets were Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, executed inthe United States in 1953. The latter two were probably among the first whobelieved in nuclear deterrence, whereby neither country would use nuclearweapons because the other would use his in response, therefore there wouldbe no ssible winner. It is generally believed that with such scientists asAndrei Sakharov, the Soviets were capable of working it out for themselveswithout the help of intelligence. (better transition) The National SecurityAct of 1947 gave birth to the CIA, and in 1949 the CIA Act was formallypassed. The act exempted the CIA from all Federal laws that required thedisclosure of functions, names, official titles, and salaries or number ofpersonnel employed by the agency. The director was awarded staggeringpowers, including the right to spend money without regard to theprovisions of law and regulations relating to the expenditure of governmentfunds. The act also allowed the director to bring in 100 aliens a yearsecretly.3 The 1949 charter is essentially the same one that the CIA usesto carry out covert operations today. The U-2 Incident In 1953, the CIA contracted Lockheed Aircraft Corporation of Burbank CAto build a plane that would go higher and farther than any yet produced. Kelly Johnson came up with the design for the U-2, a plane that would flywith a record high ceiling of 90,000 ft. and a range of 4,000 ft. The U-2flights are possibly the greatest triumph achieved by the CIA since itsfounding. This is because of the planes success at evading detection forsuch a long time and the vast amounts of information gathered. Well neverbe able to match that one. Those flights were intelligence work on a massproduction basis.4 On the fateful day of May 1, 1960, Gary Powers was sentup in his U-2 over the Soviet Union from the United States Air Force Baseat Peshawar, Pakistan. His mission was to photograph areas of military andeconomic signifigance and record radio transmissions. The plane he flew wasequipped with cameras, radio receivers and tape recorders to accomplishthis mission. In addition to these devices, the plane was also equippedwith self destruction capabilities to blow up the U-2 if it was forced toland, and a blasting mechanism fitted to the tape re corder to destroy anyevidence of the CIAs monitoring of radio signals. As his plane flew overthe Soviet Union, the cameras recorded ammunition depots, oil storageinstallations, the number and type of aircraft at military airports, andelectric transmission lines. When the plane did not return to its baseafter a reasonable allowance of time, it was assumed it had crashed forsome reason or another. The circumstances surrounding the crash of theplane Powers flew on this is a still a mystery today, depending on whetheryou believe the Soviets or the Americans. The Soviets claim that in viewof the fact that this was a case of the deliberate invasion of Sovietairspace with hostile aggressive intent, the Soviet Government gave ordersto shoot down the plane5, and that they shot it out of the air with anSA-2 missile at 8:53 A.M. at the altitude of 68,000 ft. The Americansdeclared that the U-2 was disabled by a flameout in its jet engine. .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d , .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d .postImageUrl , .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d , .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d:hover , .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d:visited , .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d:active { border:0!important; } .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d:active , .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ua5a53b7dd732abc75613e207e58cc45d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Okonkwo's Disagreement of Christian Religion EssayWhatever the truth maybe, or combination of truths, the fact remains thatPowers survived the encounter by parachute in the vicinity of Sverdlovsk. Upon landing, he was apprehended, disarmed, and escorted to the securitypolice by four residents of the small town. The fault of the incident laywith the American administrations handling of the situation, not with theflight itself. It was assumed that Powers had died in the crash, and thiswas the mistake. The initial story released was not widely reported andonly told of a missing pilot near the Soviet border whos oxygen equipmentwas out of order. From an intelligence point of view, the original coverstory seemed to be particularly inept A cover story has certainrequirements. It must be credible. It must be a story that can bemaintained and it should not have too muchdetail. Anything thats missing in a cover story can be taken care of bysaying the matter is being investigated.6 The further lies the StateDepartment released about the incident only strained U.S. and Sovietrelations. These included reports of an unarmed weather research plane, piloted by a civilian, that had trouble wi th oxygen equipment going downover the Soviet Union. Under questioning by the press, Information Officer,Walt Bonney, admitted that the U-2 had cameras aboard, but they were notreconnaissance cameras. Rather, the cameras were to take cloud cover. When it became publicly known that Khrushchev had known what had takenplace all along and had known for some years, President Eisenhowerjustified the presence of a spy plane over the Soviet Union with it beingin the interest of the free world. Khrushchev saw through the ploy andrevoked his invitation for Eisenhower to visit the Soviet Union for asummit. Bay of Pigs By 1959, Fidel Castro and his rebels were able to establish their ownregime in Cuba. Americans soon became hostile to this new government whenit became apparent that Castro endorsed the Soviets. He declared hisintentions of supporting guerrilla movements against US backeddictatorships throughout Latin America and seized US assets in Cuba. Healso established friendly relations with the Soviet Union although he wasnot communist. The US recognized this threat to their interests andproceeded to form a special CIA task force that was create an armed forceof exiled Cubans, form a subversive organizations within Cuba, and ifpossible assassinate Castro. The initial plan was to discredit thecharismatic man in front of his nation. Some ideas that were considered toaccomplish the task were ludicrous in the least. The first was to sprayCuban TV studios with LSD prior to Castro broadcasting a speech in hopes ofhim making a complete fool of himself. The agency had been experimentingwit h the acid for some time. However, the idea was quickly abandonedbecause no one could guarantee with any certainty that the drug would havethe desired effect. Further attempts were stabs at the look of Castrohimself. One idea was to doctor his famous insignia, the cigars he isalways seen with. This idea was discontinued because no one could figureout how to get the cigars to him. From an angle of more a chemical nature, the agency planned at one time to make his beard fall out. Scientists atthe agency knew that when thallium salts contact skin, they act as adepilatory and make hair fall out. The idea goes further into reasoningthat when Castro aveled he would leave his shoes outside of his hotelbedroom and the salts could be sprinkled in then. This idea becameimpossible when Castro announced that all forthcoming foreign trips were tobe cancelled. With these failures, the US felt that it had no choice but tocontinue with the organization of partisans and help them usurp thedictatorshi p of Cuba. By the time John F. Kennedy was elected President in1960, the development of the invasion was already in full force. Eisenhowerhad earmarked $13 million and a force of 1300 men had been assembled.7Cuban pilots were being trained how to fly B-26 bombers by NationalGuardsmen. The operation was massive, enough so that the public tooknotice. Kennedy was extremely wary of any direct US involvement and setabout a series of compromises for the Cuban exiles. The air cover wasreduced and the landings were shifted from a more favorable site to the Bayof Pigs where it was determined that the landing force could get ashorewith a minimum of naval and air force back up. Escorted by US navalvessels, the force landed in the Bay of Pigs on April 17, 1961. The sixB-26s assigned to the operation were clearly inadequate and the supportfrom within the country never fully materialized. Completely exposed tocounterattacks of the Cuban air and land forces, the whole invasion forcewas either kill ed or taken prisoner. When Kennedys statement that thearmed forces of this country would not intervene in any way was anoutright lie. The exiles uses American equipment. They were trained byAmerican servicemen, and the planes flown were Americans. The ships thatcarried the men to the invasion were American, with American naval unitsfor support. Americans were killed in operation. When caught in his lie,Kennedy was forced to cover the US by extending the Monroe Doctrine tocover communism. He declared that the US would remain free of all Centraland Latin American affair as long as they were not communist. This fiascoundoubtedly led to Khrushchevs belief that he could deploy missiles to hisnewfound ally without any tangible reprisal from the Americans. .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d , .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d .postImageUrl , .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d , .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d:hover , .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d:visited , .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d:active { border:0!important; } .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d:active , .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u79ccc4437d80b932313ccaa10b37302d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Prom Night Memories EssayPractices of Spies Some of the devices used seem to come straight from a James Bond movie. Hemp Legalization Essays - Biofuels, Hemp, Herbs, Sustainability

Hemp Legalization Essays - Biofuels, Hemp, Herbs, Sustainability Hemp Legalization Hemp Legalization As I read over this article, I became more and more furious with the government. Ralph Nadar, the presidential candidate for the green party, talked about his plan to legalize the growth of commercial grade hemp, but the government showed how overbearing it is. One thing that the government said was that if the growth of commercial grade hemp did become legalized, then there would be so man rules and regulations on the growth of it that if would be virtually impossible to grow. The article mentioned that by legalizing the growth of commercial grade hemp, it would raise the economy of the U.S. by bringing in more money by producing stronger rope and more paper than and tree or plant. One fact that the article failed to mention that the growth of commercial grade hemp would produce more oxygen in the air and also make the ground more fertile in off seasons. The article shows that the government is just trying to find ways to keep the economy from booming and the environment from being clean.

Individualised Education Plan for a child with ADD Essay

Individualised Education Plan for a child with ADD - Essay Example As it involves the hands, this activity which is carried out through multi-sensory movement affects individual psychology, for example, impulse control. Handwriting stimulates the brain with controlled stimulus and helps the child develop impulse control over a certain period of time. The executive functions of the frontal lobes of the brain which are common in autism and ADHD children can also be stimulated favourably for Marcus (Retrain the Brain, â€Å"Autism†). Capitalizing on this method of fine-tuning a child’s gross motor skills, the teacher must use handwriting in the class as much as possible. The teacher can also encourage doodling in the class in order to focus Marcus’s attention and motor skills on one particular activity at a time (Chatterjee, p. 2). The teacher can also call on Marcus to write on the blackboard as much as possible. â€Å"Writing on the board is a tremendous tool to use to help students develop fine motor skills, as the large body m ovements needed for writing on the board are prerequisites skills needed to eventually be successful with writing on lined paper† (Lougy, et.al., p. 93). In order to improve on Marcus’s self help skills, which would include his recognition of his drawer and his ability to place his things in the drawer in an orderly fashion, requires yet again the assistance of the teacher and also Marcus’s parents. By developing such skills, it is possible for Marcus to imbibe a sense of organization and intellectual devotion to a certain task, including that of taking care of his things. In the classroom, the teacher can colour-code the academic materials to be used. For example, all materials in relation to English can be coloured blue. Notebooks, books, binders, folders, and all related classroom materials can also be coloured blue (ADDitude, â€Å"ADHD Treatment†). The teacher can also place instructions or step-by-step routines in colourful signs in the classroom. For example,

Business Analysis of British American Tobacco Case Study

Business Analysis of British American Tobacco - Case Study Example Philip Morris leads the market with 18% share, BAT follows with 11%, while Imperial Tobacco and Gallaher hold fourth and fifth position in the global tobacco pie. The missing third spot belongs to Japan Tobacco. In UK, the cigarette and tobacco market is predominantly captivated by Gallaher and Imperial Tobacco; the two firms enjoy an 80% hold in the market. BAT has its manufacturing facilities in UK but exports most of its production. (Action on Smoking and Health Fact sheet No.18) Recently, BAT has strengthened its position in the Tobacco world market with different moves. As per the most recent developments, to expand their reach farther, BAT is in process of acquiring small firms internationally so as to have extended access to the markets, and to have stronger position at the same. The group is also quite close to the completion of purchasing House of Prince (HoP). As per the Citigroup officials, the huge network of supply chain that BAT carries with itself can assist in exceeding HoP's last years 30 billion cigarettes sales figure throughout Europe. This would have a net impact on BAT's sales rather than increasing the existing lines sales. At the same time, in the start of March 2007, BAT declared its results for the ended fiscal year showing an increase in operational profits of 7-8% with Middle East, Latin America, Africa, and Asia-Pacific are the major contributors to this increment. Apart from this, another major cause has been an increment in the sal es volumes of subsidiaries that rose by 2%. It is noticeable that the net tobacco products sales was drove by the 4 major players of the market, giving it a volume increase of 17%. The Internet Essay -- Technology Impact Web Cyberspace Essays

The Internet Today the use of technology is tremendous. Almost every home has a computer and a way of communication like the telephone. Most have radios and satellites for cable television. To some people technology is all that they depend on for survival. I have learned that technology plays a huge role in every person’s life. The use of technology today has helped make life a little bit simpler and has changed our way of thinking. For instance, the Internet is a highly effective tool for communicating, for gathering information and for cooperation between dispersed locations. It has â€Å"negated the limitations of physical presence† (Shields 5). There is continuous development and improvement. The growing list of applications serves as testament to advertising, communication, shopping, and banking, to name just a few. Many businesses are discovering new ways to reach their customers, new ways to improve efficiency, new products and services to sell. The future is limited only by your imagination. The Internet is, quite literally, a network of networks. It is comprised of thousands of interconnected networks spanning the globe (Black 1). The computers that form the Internet range from huge mainframes in research establishments to modest PCs in people’s homes and offices. Despite the recent hype, the Internet is not a new phenomenon. Its roots lie in a collection of computers that were linked together in the mid-1960s to form the US Department of Defense’s communications systems. Fearing the consequences of nuclear attack, there was no central computer holding vast amounts of data, rather the information was dispersed across thousands of machines. A set of rules, of protocols, known as TCP/IP was developed to allow dispar... ... to the Internet’s bytes there has been a long road of development. The reason for the developments is the desire for information. Information has always been valuable. Each one of these inventions has been a tool for political and economical resource in their time, and each has been surpassed by the next in efficiency and speed. Global communication is becoming more and more a comfortable, worldly cultural phenomenon. Together with this development the world is becoming a smaller place. The question is what is next? Motivation at Work Essay - 794 Words

Motivation at Work It may seem obvious that staff should be motivated; however, from the point of human resources management this is only true if motivation leads to improvements in the work. Over the years a number of management theories have been put forward in an attempt to explain the nature of motivation and suggest ways in which it may be improved. Frederick Taylors principles of scientific management Taylors belief was that complex tasks should be broken into separate operations so that little could go wrong. Each operation would be performed by a separate employee. The whole job could then be completed in a series of stages by a number of employees working together. They have taken advice from such theory and adapted their policies where possible to suit their employees. Tesco pay competitive rates, their working conditions are of top quality and they have many benefits. These are a result of understanding this theory and implementing them so that they get the desired results that all companies want. Abraham Maslows hierarch of needs Maslow developed his Theory of Human Motivation in 1943. He believed that motivation comes from a desire to satisfy needs. He placed these in a hierarchy with the basic needs at the bottom of the pyramid and higher needs at the top. In practice Maslow accepted that a variety of needs will exist at the same time, but suggested that once lower needs are satisfied then higher needs become the strongest motivators. Maslows theory has the same basis of Fredrick Herzbergss two factor theory because they both argue that what satisfies a person is the hygiene factors and the Motivators. Fredrick just says that a combination of these two factors leads to better performance where are Maslow goes further to say that they come in a set order where once basic needs are satisfied, higher, more complicated desires will be sought.
